Better Children’s Silverware
We like stainless steel and plain wood utensils for kids. We don’t mind plastic, rubber, or silicone on the handles. We avoid vintage utensils, unless they are all stainless. Silicone products may test positive for very trace levels of cadmium.

Better Dishes
We like plain glass and stainless steel dishes without decorative markings. New white glass and clear glass plates are typically lead free.
New glazed stoneware dishes and cups may contain trace or added lead and/or cadmium but are leach tested per FDA requirements and are considered safe. Some stoneware may also pass the more rigorous Prop 65 leaching limits. We do not have a concern with these products but prefer to avoid dishes made with high amounts of lead, since there are so many great lead-free and low-lead options available. We avoid crystal and vintage dishes.
Corelle and Anchor Hocking plates are made in the USA. Some Libbey products are made in the USA.

Better Glasses
We like plain glass and stainless steel cups. Colored glass may contain trace lead and cadmium but is considered safe and should not leach. We avoid glasses made from lead crystal, cups with painted decorations, and vintage plastic. Anchor Hocking is made in the USA and some Libbey products are made in the USA.
