This cup is part of an affordable camping set sold by Wealers. It was purchased new in 2022. It is made of 201 stainless steel and the 10 oz is a small size perfect for young children. The edges are rounded under and there are no sharp surfaces. There is an etched logo on the base. Please note that this set comes with a mesh drawstring bag with imitation leather tag. We didn’t end up using the bag, so we only tested the cup.
How do you think this cup scored under XRF?

How did this item perform compared to lead limits for kid’s products?
Well, if you know our blog you know we are fans of stainless steel for cooking and serving. We favor stainless over plastic since plastic can leach chemicals into food through heat or prolonged contact.
The item tested is below the federal lead restrictions for children’s products which limits products intended for use by children 12 and under to 90-100 parts per million lead.
However, the item is not a new children’s product and is not subject to these regulations.
We think this is a great product for children by a reputable company.
We Prefer:
We like similar stainless steel cups for camping or children when they are too young to use breakable, glass cups like those by Anchor Hocking. We have found these stainless cups to be durable when thrown but they do have a tendency to develop small spots over time.
We recommend avoiding vintage ceramic or painted cups, or older plastic cups, which can contain high levels of lead or BPA. When glass is not an option, we sometimes use new acrylic or polypropylene cups for cold liquids in a pinch.
When possible, we recommend that all items used by children in the kitchen be lead free, with the exception of trace lead in products that are leach tested, preferably under 90 ppm lead on surface coatings, which is considered to be within legal safety limits for children’ s products.

Why we like it: The 16 oz version of the cup we tested is in the set sold above.
Premium Heavy Stainless Steel Cups for Kids & Toddlers. Safe Rimless 8oz 4Pack
Why we like it: This stainless steel kid’s cup set is a great choice and feels heavier and has a smoother top rim than the cup by Wealers. Unfortunately it is only in stock from time to time, so you may have to wait for a set to become available.
Why we like it: More stainless options by Wealers – these are a great choice.
