This milk glass vase used to belong to my grandmother. She owned many fine antique and vintage pieces from the 1950s and earlier. The exact date of manufacture is unknown. We have so very little from my grandmother so this piece is very special to me.

Test Summary:
Trace lead, antimony, and cadmium were detected. The level of lead detected is lower than the amount of lead permitted in a child’s product in the United States today (90-100 ppm).
We do not have a concern about a decorative glass item with trace or higher levels of heavy metals bound within the glass. It is not an exposure concern.
The amount of lead and other metals in a piece of vintage or antique milk glass can vary. This particular piece is very trace but you may find other examples that test much higher.
We Prefer:
Vintage and colored glass can sometimes contain heavy metals.
We do not have any concern with heavy metals bound in decorative glass. We are more concerned about lead in painted or glazed coatings that can wear over time. We also avoid buying new products from brands that intentionally use lead and cadmium, due to environmental concerns.
We do avoid products made using lead crystal. Crystal is typically very high in lead and may leach lead through the use of acidic food and drink.
